Sovereign Health collaborates and partners with organizations that are committed to educating the public about mental health and substance abuse, and reducing the impact these conditions have on individuals and their families. The following organizations also share our commitment to improving the lives of people, families and communities affected by mental illnesses, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): This nonprofit organization is dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by severe mental illnesses. State organizations and volunteers work to provide support for those with mental health illness, but also educate and raise awareness about mental health issues in their communities. NAMI advocates for changes in public policy, such as working to have insurance companies treat mental illnesses the same as physical illnesses, and to secure funding for research efforts. They also have public awareness events and activities, such as Mental Illness Awareness Week and NAMIWalks.
The National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP): This organization is a national resource for programs and educators that are working to help young people who are struggling with emotional and behavioral issues. Members of this organization provide residential, therapeutic and/or educational services to children of all ages that enhance their growth, learning and personal well-being. NATSAP also develops ethical principles and practice guidelines for members and their organizations.
The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids: For families whose sons and daughters are struggling with substance use, The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids works to provide them information, support and guidance so they can get their children the care they need. They also work to promote a better understanding of addiction, and work for things like universal evidence-based treatment program across the country.
Psychology Today: This magazine and website features columns on various psychological issues, including relationships, mental health, stress, therapy, education and other topics. The articles are written by a group of renowned psychologists, psychiatrists, academics and writers. Psychology Today also provide a directory of therapists, psychiatrists and treatment facilities.
The Addict’s Mom (TAM): This organization works to provide hope and guidance to mothers in need of resources and support in dealing with their child’s addiction. TAM educates, advocates, and acts as a liaison between mental health professionals, policymakers and those affected by addiction. TAM also sponsors events such as The Addict’s Mom Lights of Hope and The Addict’s Mom Steps of Hope, which are dedicated to raising awareness about addiction and reducing stigma. They also work to promote changes in the legal system affecting individuals with substance use disorders.
