Studies support massage therapy

Founder and director of the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami, Tiffany Field, has been carrying out research to study the benefits of massage since 1992.
A study that used massage therapy for recovery concluded that 27 percent of the participants stopped smoking after learning a self-massage trick they used every time they had a craving. Another research revealed that premature babies who were massaged showed fewer symptoms of cocaine addiction. In yet another study, it helped manage the symptoms of bulimia and anorexia in women.
